Our Philosophy

INtimate

Our philosophy is fairly simple yet INtimate ... in order to provide the best possible solutions for you and your family, we need to fully understand your situation.

Every family is unique, with different circumstances, needs, and desires. Once we understand the details of your situation, we can counsel you on appropriate strategies and solutions to preserve your family’s wealth and ensure that your heirs will benefit in the manner you desire.

Our clients are affluent, high net worth individuals, families, and business owners. Their concerns are usually focused around the preservation of capital, structuring sufficient cash flow from their investments to meet their income needs, minimizing taxation, and creating a complete estate plan (Will, Power of Attorney, Trusts, etc.).

If you’re not already a client, the following information will give you an idea of the families that we work with and the solutions we provide.

Some of the concerns we commonly hear when we first meet with new families are:

  • I don’t hear from my advisor often enough.
  • I’m not sure my advisor is considering all aspects of my life and doing everything he/she can for my family.
  • I don’t have a hard copy of a complete financial plan - I’d like to have something I can refer to now and then.
  • My advisor has never asked me what my short and long term goals are.
  • I don’t know what the investments are in my portfolio, or why I own them.

Our Process... there are many important things we need to learn about you and your family:

  • What are your wealth concerns / issues?
  • What are your cash flow requirements currently and anticipated in the future?
  • What are your dreams and goals for your family?
  • What is your goal timeframe?
  • What is your risk tolerance?
  • Where do you anticipate being in 3, 5, 10, 20 years?
  • What is your family’s current net worth, including any business interests, potential inheritances, etc.?
  • At what age do you intend to spend more time pursing your life interests?
  • What legacy do you wish to leave for your heirs?
  • Is philanthropy a goal?
  • What are your family’s particular barriers or problems?
  • Have you any investment preferences or aversions?

Here's a list of documents that we suggest you bring along to our first meeting, and here's a personal and living expenses worksheet.  The process of gathering indepth information will ensure that your family's financial plan is complete.

Once we have answers to these questions and many more, we have a road map to travel by. We then work closely with you to develop an appropriate, documented investment plan. Your risk tolerance and timeframe are considered when selecting appropriate investments in order to avoid unnecessary risk. Tax efficiency is fundamental to protecting and further growing your wealth; therefore all opportunities are reviewed to reduce potential tax liabilities. Your Will and Estate Planning options are presented.

A financial plan is not a one-time affair; it’s an ongoing, evolving process. Your portfolio and financial plan are monitored regularly and you receive comprehensive reporting. As time passes, and your life and situation changes, appropriate adjustments are made to your financial plan, to ensure suitability.
